Carrousel des nations 2014 Puts the Fun in Fundraising!

December 3, 2014

November can seem like a bleak month on the Canadian calendar, but TFS certainly made sure that it ended on a high note and with a splash of colour. On November 29, TFS held its third Carrousel des nations, the lively community event that celebrates our school’s multiculturalism and international outlook while fundraising for school priorities. The much-anticipated evening served up mouth-watering food from many nations and showcased music and dance from some of the cultures that make up our diverse community — performed of course by our very own and highly talented TFS students. In short, Carrousel des nations was a whirlwind trip ’round the world — in one night!

This year’s event proceeds are being directed toward Soaring Beyond: The Campaign for TFS, specifically in support of the three strategic priorities that will help our students excel beyond every expectation: Learning Forums in each branch, with library spaces redesigned for students to facilitate learning enrichment and support, Entrance Scholarships for high achievers who would not otherwise be able to attend TFS, and Program Enrichment to support the annual enhancement of technology, equipment and academic innovation.

Topping off the evening’s fun was the silent auction, where attendees eagerly placed their bids on some fabulous trips to far-flung destinations such as Provence, Jamaica and Nuevo Vallarta. You will be pleased to learn that more than $85,000 was raised at Carrousel this year.

Included in this total is a generous gift of $20,000 from the Parents’ Association for the purchase of sound system equipment across the Toronto campus. Their gift is a gift that will keep on giving as it will benefit school activities and performances going forward.

With these event proceeds and gifts received as of November 30 more than $6.5 million has been raised toward the Campaign’s total $9 million goal.

We are now so much closer, thanks to the continued support of our community and thanks to the many volunteers whose tireless efforts and dedication made Carrousel 2014 such a resounding success. Merci! Gracias! Dhanyavaad!
