Ways of Giving

Thank you for your interest in supporting Soaring Beyond: The Campaign for TFS. There are a number of ways you can make a gift to the Campaign. Whichever option you choose, your gift will help bring projects to life to support outstanding students for years to come.

Matching Gifts
Many companies will match the charitable contributions made by their employees. Please enter organization name in the field below and click 'search' to see if your company has a matching program.

Cash
Whether by cheque or credit card, your gift is eligible for a charitable donation receipt, thereby reducing the after-tax cost of your contribution.

Pledge
Campaign gifts can also be pledged and paid over a three to five year period, making a larger investment more manageable while also opening up opportunities to be recognized on a donor plaque.

Appreciated Securities
Donating publicly-traded securities is a tax-smart way to support TFS. You will receive a charitable donation receipt for the value of the securities gifted based on the published closing price on the day the shares are received in our account. In addition, you are not subject to any capital gains tax. The chart below outlines the financial benefits of donating your shares directly to TFS, rather than selling your shares and gifting the proceeds.

Workplace Giving
Companies often run their own employee giving or United Way workplace campaigns. If you have been asked to participate in such a campaign, please consider designating your gift to TFS.

Tribute Gifts
Tribute gifts provide an ideal opportunity for you to thank a current or former teacher, to honour someone special, or make a gift in loving memory of a friend or family member. When you make a tribute gift, we will send a special tribute card with a personalized message to the recipient, or recipient’s family, highlighting your special honour, and you will also receive a charitable donation receipt.

First-Time Donor's Super Credit
Starting in the 2013 taxation year, a temporary non-refundable first time donor’s super credit (FDSC) will supplement the charitable donation tax credit (CDTC), adding 25% to the rates used in the calculation of the CDTC for up to $1,000 of monetary donations. You can only claim this credit once during the 2013 to 2017 taxation years, and to be eligible neither you nor your spouse, or common law partner, can have claimed the CDTC in any of the five preceding tax years.
