The Gift of a TFS Education - A Message from Dr Josep González, our Head of School

October 6, 2015

There is no greater gift that parents can bestow on their children than the gift of education. Education means options for the future, the freedom to choose any career and an open door to the world, a world that is full of opportunities and possibilities. The gift of a TFS education is especially valuable and precious, because the opportunity to become fully bilingual, or multilingual, is actually the gift of perspective.

Message from the Chair of the Board

February 25, 2015

TFS grads can succeed anywhere and do anything, with anyone. This statement of belief sums up our collective aspiration for our children. We want them to possess great academic knowledge and skills, and be inspired by a bilingual education and an international point of view. It is at the core of everything our school does.

Entrance Scholarships: Offering a World of Possibilities

February 25, 2015

Some of our most successful TFS graduates have been scholarship recipients – exceptional students who would not have been able to attend TFS otherwise. “My parents were both well-educated professionals, but being new immigrants there was no way we would have been able to afford an independent school education, so it was not even a remote possibility. When I won a scholarship to attend TFS it opened a new world to me,” explains Dr. Sarandeep Sonu Gaind, today one of Canada’s most respected psychiatrists and a recent recipient of Le Prix de distinction des anciens élèves de TFS.

Donor Profile: Nancy Cohen ’78 and Stephen Goldhar

February 25, 2015

If anyone is enthused about the history of TFS, it would be Nancy Cohen ’78. As a member of the school’s fourth graduating class and the mother of two TFS alumnae, Nancy is passionate about linking the school’s past to its present and future. “I believe in the story of the school and I have watched it evolve, constantly becoming a better version of itself,” she says.

Celebrating Philanthropy at TFS: Our Annual Donor Reception

February 25, 2015

Winter’s chill was no match for the warmth and goodwill generated in the Senior School Penturn Library on the evening of January 27, 2015, where the annual reception for Le cercle des philanthropes, our school’s donor recognition society, took place. Each year this casual and friendly reception is held to recognize and appreciate our TFS family of donors for their generosity and support during the previous year.

Our Featured Campaign Priority: Program Enrichment

The TFS Parents’ Association: Supporting Academic Excellence

October 2, 2014

TFS parents are, quite literally, the foundation of our school. TFS was founded by parents, Harry and Anna Giles, who started the bilingual school in their home because they wanted to offer their children educational opportunities that would reflect Canada’s two languages and many cultures. Today, the TFS Parents’ Association is one of the driving forces behind the school’s flourishing growth and success.

A quiet space to study on one’s own. A place to collaborate with one’s peers, or to meet with a learning strategist to improve one’s study skills or test-taking techniques. The Learning Forums @ TFS will be all of the above — and so much more.

Bill Webb and Agnes Wong Talk about Soaring Beyond: The Campaign for TFS

June 4, 2014

Ask Bill Webb his favourite French word and he will tell you that it is audace — "hardiesse qui ne connaît ni obstacle ni limite." It is that fearlessness and an insatiable curiosity that Bill Webb and Agnes Wong are elated to see in their two children, James and Stephen. For these TFS parents, their sons’ inquisitiveness and eagerness to learn may be more important than those excellent report cards.
